Where to eat in Barcelona

Choice. That’s the only word to describe the “problem” of where to eat in Barcelona. With so many restaurants and tapa bars to choose from it’s easy to not know  where to eat. There’s the famous market, La Boqueria on La Rambla 91. The choice in this market alone is amazing, and all top quality, from juices to paella. It’s not to be missed.

A great area for tapas is Carrer de Blai, in Poble Sec neighbourhood. The whole street has tap bars side to side, all competing for your business, thus keeping prices for delicious pintxos hovering around two euros. Pintxos, you could say, are a type of tapa. They can contain any type of food and usually come with a cocktail stick stuck into it.

On Passeig de Gràcia, where stand many modernista buildings, including Gaudi’s Casa Batllo and Casa Milà (Casa Pedrera), you can find El Nacional, Passeig de Gràcia 24. With 4 culinary areas and 4 specialised bars, you won’t go hungry or thirsty here. The Braseria is where you’ll find delicious meats. La Llotja is for fish and seafood. La Taperia serves all types of mouth watering hot and cold tapas (salmon pintxo is my favourite). La Parada is for the sweet tooth and delicious pastas and salads. The whole place is decorated beautifully, with dark green leafed plants surrounding this fancy food court. As they say themselves, “El Nacional, a unique restaurant where you can immerse yourself in the local life of Barcelona.”

Thanks for reading this short summary of a few of my favourite places to eat in Barcelona. I’ll be going into more detail in later blogs. Now, excuse me, I’m off to Carrer de Blai for a beer and a few pintxos with fried chicken on top.
