Barcelona has endless site seeing and amazing places to see, a lot of which we’ll experience on our bike tour. Roman ruins, Modernista architecture, narrow mediaeval streets and let’s not forget the beaches around Barceloneta and it’s refreshing waters, a relief from the summer heat.
But what if you’ve seen it all or just want something different. A great place for a family activity, or any adult with an interest in science, is up in the neighbourhood Sarrià – Sant Gervasi, the Museum of Science CosmoCaixa.
Every few months the museum hosts a different theme in a section of the museum. From focusing on the Sun and what it is made up of and how it gives us life, to the science of Pixar and how these amazing animations are made.
After the themed first area is where the science really kicks in. Here you’ll learn about the Universe and our own planet Earth. Be prepared to be blown away with an animation from the big bang to the present day.
You’ll learn what makes up the human body, gravity, and many more interesting facts.
The area which is next will keep your eyes glued to the water, that’s right the water. There is a flooded forest with real animals and fish. This 1,000m2 recreates the Amazon rainforest ecosystem, with real caimans and capybara.
The museum hosts different events and workshops and has its own planetarium.
CosmoCaixa is open 10:00 – 20:00. Its address is Carrer de Isaac Newton 26, 08022.
Being so far up in the city, just below Tibidabo, we don’t pass it on the tour, but just ask me and I’ll tell you all about it. On our bike tour of Barcelona, Barcelona is the centre of the universe, in this science museum you’ll learn how incrediby big our universe is.
